Rocks & Ruins Pastel Workshop
with artist Kay Bridge
10 - 12 September 2010
Immerse yourself in the stunning and challenging Flinders Ranges environment. Engage with the landscape at the scenic Wirrealpa Station in the Flinders Ranges and explore the textures and techniques to render rocks and ruins in pastel with Kay Bridge.
The focus of this workshop will be on exploring ways of representing the rocks and ruins around Wirrealpa Station.
Drawing will form a component of the working processes, and there will be an emphasis on learning techniques to render texture in pastel. As we proceed, workshop participants will be introduced, in an informal hands-on situation, to basic drawing principles and rendering textures on paper using medium and pastel. Further considerations such as composition, tonal variation, colour, light and shadow will also be discussed with reference to work as it develops.
The workshop will be conducted over three days, with ample time to discuss the results, experimentation and development of work during the sessions.
We have been fortunate to secure a grant to subsidise the cost of participation - now only $385 per person and includes art tuition by Kay Bridge; materials (as detailed in the participant information); 3 nights twin share accommodation in the Wirrealpa Station Shearer's Quarters and meals (breakfast, lunch & dinner).
Only 10 places are available so reserve your place now.
